Langa Women Development Initiative (LWDI)
is a non-profit organisation founded in 2018 and working in Bauchi and Gombe States, Nigeria, with a mission to empower women, girls, young people and vulnerable communities through education, economic empowerment, advocacy and community development. The organisation’s overarching vision is to create stronger, more inclusive and self-reliant communities.
LWDI's work is organised around six key programme areas: Women’s Empowerment & Livelihoods; Education & Youth Development; Health & Wellbeing; Gender Equality & Social Inclusion; Community Development & Environment; and Advocacy, Governance & Partnerships.
These areas cover women’s skills development, entrepreneurship, microfinance and income generation; education access, literacy, scholarships, youth skills and leadership; maternal and child health, nutrition, reproductive health and disease prevention; gender equality, women’s rights, protection and inclusive participation; WASH, environmental sustainability, waste management and climate resilience; and policy advocacy, civic engagement, accountability, institutional strengthening and strategic partnerships.
