LANGA Women Development Initiative (LWDI)

Pathway to Growth (2026–2030)

The LANGA Women Development Initiative (LWDI) delivers integrated, community-based programs designed to improve the wellbeing, dignity, and opportunities of women, youth, and children across Bauchi and Gombe States. Our work is anchored in four thematic pillars: Health, Education, Empowerment, and Human Rights (HEEH).

We combine grassroots engagement, evidence-based advocacy, and capacity building to create sustainable change in underserved communities.

1. HEALTH PROGRAMS

LWDI promotes improved health outcomes through awareness, prevention, and community-based health interventions.

Key Services:

  • Community sensitization on HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Menstrual hygiene management education for adolescent girls
  • Adolescent and maternal health awareness campaigns
  • Community health outreaches in rural and hard-to-reach areas
  • Training of community health volunteers for local referrals and education
  • Health information dissemination and behavior change communication

Our Focus:

We work to ensure that women, youth, and children have access to accurate health information and are empowered to make informed health decisions.

2. EDUCATION PROGRAMS

LWDI supports inclusive and equitable access to education, especially for girls and vulnerable children.

Key Services:

  • Support for out-of-school children enrollment and retention
  • Girl-child education advocacy campaigns
  • Life skills development for adolescents
  • Parenting education and caregiver engagement programs
  • School-based awareness campaigns on safety and child protection
  • Community dialogues to reduce barriers to education

Our Focus:

We aim to reduce dropout rates and ensure that every child, especially girls, has access to safe and quality education.

3. EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS

LWDI strengthens the economic resilience of women and youth through skills development and livelihood support.

Key Services:

  • Vocational training (soap making, tailoring, perfume making, home gardening, etc.)
  • Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) formation and support
  • Financial literacy and entrepreneurship training
  • Small business start-up support and mentoring
  • Access to micro-grants and revolving fund opportunities
  • Community-based income-generating activities (IGAs)

Our Focus:

We empower women and youth to become economically independent and active contributors to community development.

4. HUMAN RIGHTS & PROTECTION PROGRAMS

LWDI promotes justice, equality, and protection of vulnerable groups through rights-based interventions.

Key Services:

  • Legal literacy training on human rights and gender equality
  • GBV (Gender-Based Violence) prevention and response support
  • Survivor empowerment and psychosocial support referrals
  • Community advocacy against harmful traditional practices
  • Engagement of community leaders on child protection and inclusion
  • Policy advocacy on GBV laws and human rights frameworks

Our Focus:

We ensure that women, youth, and children understand their rights and are empowered to speak up and access justice.

5. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & ADVOCACY

LWDI works directly with communities to strengthen participation, awareness, and collective action.

Key Services:

  • Community sensitization and outreach programs
  • Stakeholder engagement forums and dialogues
  • Awareness campaigns on health, education, and rights
  • Collaboration with traditional and religious leaders
  • Youth and women-led community mobilization
  • Peacebuilding and conflict prevention initiatives

We build strong community ownership of development initiatives for lasting impact.

6. ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT & PARTNERSHIPS

LWDI is committed to building a strong, sustainable institution capable of delivering long-term impact.

Key Services:

  • Capacity building for staff and volunteers
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Results and Learning (MERL) systems
  • Resource mobilization and donor engagement
  • Strategic partnerships with government, CSOs, and development agencies
  • Digital transformation and organizational systems strengthening
  • Advocacy and visibility campaigns
